Edwin L. Henderson

Founder/President/Executive Director

Equipped with a B.A. degree in Psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and polished case management experience, On A Mission became official in December of 2003.  On A Mission's goal is to offer youth alternatives by providing positive after school activities while instilling leadership abilities.  Edwin has worked on "Skid Row", with L.A. homeless population as a case manager at the Weingart Center.  He has worked with parolees, families in need, mental health & dual diagnosed patients, at-risk youth and autistic children, to name a few.

Edwin believes now is the time to start making a positive difference within the community. Edwin has a great passion for helping youth in his community, commercial and general aviation.

He enjoys flying in his spare time, and hopes to earn his private pilots license sometime in the near future.

 

Keith Norman

Centinela Youth Services

Keith Norman is a native New Yorker and a Veteran who has lived in Los Angeles, California for over twenty years. As a youth mentor, athletic official, and community role model, “Coach” Norman has assisted diverse youth to improve the quality of their lives in meaningful ways. He currently works for Centinela Youth Services, Inc.and was instrumental in developing various academic and recreational programs for at risk youth at the Hawthorne Teen Center. He also facilitates the Peer Mediation Program at Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, California and has worked at agencies such as Conservation Corp of Long Beach, Stop the Violence, Increase the Peace foundation, and Centinela Valley School District .

In addition, Coach Norman believes that men who support their families, and give back to their communities, can powerfully influence the future of our youth.  As a result, he has worked vigorously to provide employment opportunities to men (and women) who obtain credentials from the California Basketball Officials Association. As a Board Member for On A Mission Organization, Keith will contribute his program development expertise to establish meaningful life skills activities for youth in the community.

 

 

Miguel De Souza Peixoto

Starbucks Corporation

Born and raised in Lima–Peru, Miguel graduated from Markham High School and attended La Universidad de Lima. After living in Costa Rica and Paraguay for an extended time, he decided to move to California in 2007. He is a father to 5 children, Miguel, Gillian, Marcelo, Maurice and Aberel. Two of them are his biological sons and three of them are adopted.

Miguel currently works for Starbucks Coffee Company as a District Manager and has been with Starbucks since October of 2000. Miguel currently serves as project manager for Partners for Neighborhoods. This project identifies how their organization can become more relevant and involved in communities which operate in a sustainable and relevant way.

During his free time, Miguel enjoys spending time with his kids, family and friends; He enjoys barbecuing, trying new foods, and a good game of soccer is always a plus. He also enjoys volunteering and finding ways to contribute to his community.


 

Officer Erwin Rocha

LAPD Southwest Jeopardy

Officer Rocha heads the LAPD Southwest Jeopardy program which consists of a rigorous boot camp style program that teaches kids discipline, self-respect, and leadership abilities.  Officer Rocha also leads the DAPS, PAL programs teaching kids important qualities needed for success after high school.  Officer Rocha's  commitment has made Southwest Jeopardy program the BEST in the city of Los Angeles.  On A Mission is very fortunate to have Officer Rocha on-board.
